Denis W. Barry, Jr. was born in Metairie, Louisiana, and grew up on the Northshore. He attended St. Paul’s High School before earning his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. While at LSU, Denis was a member of the Theta Xi fraternity.
Denis attended law school at the Southern University Law Center. He was published in the Southern University Law Review: Louisiana Tax Sales: A Mystery Unraveled, 42 S.U. L. Rev. 345 (2015). Later, he served as chief editor of the Southern University Law Review. He clerked for the Honorable James E. Kuhn at the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal. Denis graduated magna cum laude in May 2015 and successfully passed the Louisiana Bar Exam that same year.
Denis is licensed to practice law in both Louisiana and Texas. In Louisiana, he is admitted to all state courts, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Louisiana. He has argued before both the Louisiana Court of Appeal, First Circuit, and the Louisiana Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit. Denis has been recognized by his peers and selected to Super Lawyers for multiple years. He is an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA), the Baton Rouge Bar Association, and the Feliciana Bar Association. He has served as a featured presenter on multiple topics at the LSBA’s “A Grand CLE Experience” multi-topic seminar in Point Clear, Alabama.
Outside of the office, Denis is happily married to his wife, Tiffany. Together they have three children, Bella, Duke, and Riverlynn. The family has two dogs, Juban (Airedale) and Jellybean (Corgi). Denis serves as Justice of the Peace in East Feliciana (District 1). The family worships at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary, where Denis is the Deputy Grand Knight of the Zachary chapter of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the SJB Men’s Club. In his free time, Denis enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, golfing, and playing board games.
